Autoblog's video: Mercedes Vision AVTR concept steering

@Mercedes Vision AVTR concept steering
Autoblog contributor Ben Hsu got to drive the super-futuristic Mercedes Vision AVTR concept car inspired by the movie ‘Avatar.’ It’s unlike anything we’ve ever driven, with a joystick-style control for accelerating braking and steering, and the ability to crabwalk. An ultra-low roofline melts into a glass bubble cabin nestled more between the spherical wheels than above them. On the back of the car, an array of 33 bionic flaps open and close independently of one another. The 110-kWh battery sends power to a motor at each wheel, providing a total of 469 horsepower. It’s a fascinating thought exercise to imagine how a car from 2154 might differ from our current machines.
