Avid Learning's video: Across Cultures: A Historical Journey of Sound through the Ages

Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Furtados, Indian Music Experience Museum, Royal Opera House, Mumbai and Avid Learning present Across Cultures: A Historical Journey of Sound through the Ages, a live virtual Masterclass – led by Opera and Jazz Singer Sandeep Gurrapadi – who mentored our participants on the fundamentals of engaging with music through a multifaceted approach through critically listening to sounds. Sandeep guided them to develop and refine their musical ear through a journey of critical listening across genres, cultures and time. He took them through various traditional listening examples along with creating small devised pieces with the participants; breaking down musical ideas and drawing parallels between cultures. The Masterclass created a sound experience, not restricted to western perspective, but more of a global approach to try and trace our understanding of sound across a few different cultures and genres.
