@Roland MC-101 Help: How To Use "SYS-CTRL"
➡️ Roland MC-101 Tutorial Video / How To Use "SYS-CTRL" Created by Axelsoft Music / Music is (c) Roland Corp. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The "SYS-CTRL" assignments allow you to control internal parameters that are not included as part of the 'Tone Part' parameter list. As of v1.20 firmware "SYS-CTRL" can only be used to control the Track Multi-Effects of the MC-101 & some predefined sound parameters. (Note: The MC-707 can also assign SYS-CTRL to the Tone Matrix & TFX) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each track has 4x SYS-CTRL values which can be assigned to the control knobs C1-C4 and used with the MFX parts, controlling either a 'Drum' or 'Tone' part (not a 'Looper'). A single SYS-CTRL can be assigned to control upto 4x different MFX parameters, or you could assign one SYS-CTRL per control knob to control them each one at a time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The SYS-CTRL assignments on each track are independent of each other, so you can freely assign these as required for each track. By default the "SYS-CTRL" values may affect some element of the Tone, for example the filter or vibrato. Exactly what is affected and by how much is preset for each tone and currently can not be edited in the MC-101. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step1: Set a SYS-CTRL as a 'Source' to control the Track Multi-Effects Select a drum or tone track, go into tone edit ([SHIFT]+[SOUND]) and scroll across to "MULTI-FX" then click enter. Select any FX type other than "Thru". Scroll to find "src1" and press enter; next scroll to the end of the list and find the "SYS-CTRL" sources. Select "SYS-CTRL1" and click enter. We have now assigned SYS-CTRL1 on the active track as our source value. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step2: Set a 'Destination' to control Scroll right to "Asgn1" and press enter. Now we can select the destination to be controlled by "SYS-CTRL1" on the active track - let's select "Balance". Note: The available options will vary depending on the selected FX type. Finally scroll right one more time and select "Sens1" and press enter; adjust the amount (±63) to determine the level of effect 'SYS-CTRL1' will have on the selected destination parameter. Note: Negative values will reduce the FX value as the SYS-CTRL value increases. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- All done! Now you can assign 'SYS-CTRL1' to a control knob for the active track and use that to control the balance of the MFX for the channel. Watch the "MC-101 Video Manual" for full details on how to assign the control knobs. Final Quick Tip: 'SYS-CTRL' values can be recorded as part of a track to add extra motion. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
