Identity theft alone costs the UK around £4bn each year and is accelerating due to the cost-of-living crisis and the increasing amount of personal data we place online. In this engaging and interactive talk, we will look at the computing techniques that allow us to safely prove facts about ourselves to other people without oversharing; we will look at common sets of algorithms such as Zero Knowledge Proofs, and how they can be used in future identity systems to combat the rise in fraud.
