In pursuit of this ambition, which embraces the ‘Industry 4.0’ revolution, the Internet of things, advanced automation and digitalization, the company is progressively bringing to life some of its forward-thinking projects to streamline and increase production efficiency for today’s and tomorrow’s shop floor. Airbus’ Curtis Carson will present Airbus’ vision of the road to Industry 4.0, including progress made, challenges to overcome and emerging manufacturing trends that will enable the company to get there. Curtis Carson is the Head of Research and Technology in the Industrial Strategy and Systems Centre of Competence at Airbus, a leading aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Toulouse, France. Holder of an engineering degree from Ryerson Polytechnic University in Canada, Curtis has extensive international experience in both the aerospace and automotive industries. As part of Airbus’ commitment to champion innovative technologies and offer the most modern and comprehensive family of airliners on the market, Curtis’ current role includes developing new and innovative aircraft production processes thru the application of emerging technologies. This role spans a host of technologies in the framework of the future factory, from augmented reality to collaborative robotics to digitalization to name a few examples.
