BORICUA BOXING's video: Noche de Campeones DirecTV Press Conference 29th Annual WBO Convention

Yesterday at the beautiful Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Universal Promotions officially announced the “Noche de Campeones DirecTV” fight card to take place during the 29th Annual WBO Convention. The room was filled with press, many dignitaries of the World Boxing Organization as well as former World Champions (John John Molina and Samuel Serrano) and current Champion Jose “Sniper” Pedraza. Universal Promotions President Javier Bustillo kicked off the event by introducing WBO President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel. Valcarcel thanked everyone for being present and in turn introduced the WBO’s first President Luis Batista Salas who is still in charge of the Organization’s Championship Committee. Bustillo discussed the fight card taking place at the Caribe Hilton on October 18th 2016 during the WBO festivities. Bustillo thanked Miguel Cotto Promotions/H2 Entertainment representatives Bryan Perez and Hector Soto for being present to support their fighter Jose “Wonderboy” Lopez (17-1-1 with 13 KOs) who faces Edgardo “Sasso” Lopez (13-1-1 with 4 KOs) for the WBO International Junior Lightweight title in the Main Event. The Co-Main Event has Amanda “Real Deal” Serrano (29-1-1 with 22 KOs), who has already won four championships in three weight classes attempting to tie Miguel Cotto, as the only two Puerto Rican fighters to win four championships in four different weight classes. Amanda will be dropping down from 126lbs. to 122lbs. and challenges Alexandra Lazar (8-1-0 with 2 KOs) for the vacant 122lb. world championship. Amanda was originally present in Puerto Rico for the initial press conference that was scheduled for September 22nd but due to the Island wide power outage, it had to be rescheduled and Amanda had to return to obligations in New York. Amanda will be present at the next scheduled press conference on October 13th 2016. Bustillo then announced the third title bout of the card with David Quijano (16-6-1 with 9 KOs) facing Miguel Cartagena (15-3-0 with 6 KOs) for the NABO Flyweight Championship. Quijano is coming off a controversial decision loss to Ricardo Rodriguez and Cartagena is coming off a first round knockout over contender Joebert Alvarez in June of this year.
