On the morning of Thursday, July 19, 2018 I happened to be in the town of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. I was out there for other stuff besides Trains but with the rest of the day with nothing to do I figured what the heck and drove out to Pennsylvania Railroad territory in the City of Altoona of Interstate 99. After being in the car for two hours I finally made it to one of the biggest Railroad Attractions/Engineering Feats there are. If you guessed the Horseshoe Curve you are correct. While trying to come up with an efficient solution to run Trains up and downhill without a super major grade and without having to build a bridge through the Valley below builders decided the best way to conquer the grade would be by building a "Horseshoe" along the valley. In the end the grade would turn out to be not as steep and the plus would be not having to build and maintain a costly bridge across the valley below. After a little bit at the HSC it started getting crowded and one spot I was at back when I was younger and wanted to go back and visit was MO Interlocking in Cresson. Not much has changed since I was there a few years ago with the exception of what looks to be a new Signal Bridge being ready to be activated sometime soon. As always the Pittsburgh Line was pretty busy especially considering I was there during the usual slower hours between 11AM-4PM. Anyway sit back, relax, and enjoy as we watch Norfolk Southern Freight Trains battle the grade on the Pittsburgh Line between Altoona and Cresson. As always we thank you for watching!
