The Gyrofocus fireplace was voted 'World's Most Beautiful Object' in the famous Pulchra Design Competition (2009). To this lofty perch it comes from humble beginnings. In 1967, when French sculptor Dominique Imbert banged together a simple scrap metal fireplace to heat his freezing studio, he had no idea his design would garner international acclaim. Far from your traditional hearth, the free-standing suspended fireplace looks more like a piece of art. Maybe that’s why it has been exhibited in some of the world's more prestigious museums including the New York's Guggenheim Museum (1998), Bordeaux Contemporary Art Museum (1996), and the National Centre of Contemporary Art in Grenoble (1997). Still made in Cavaillon, in the south of France, that is where BrandmadeTV's film crew captured the beauty of the Gyrofocus Fireplace.
