When they reach the frontier, the COUNT OF BAVARIA is already leaving, considering himself to have been insulted by the false KING. Our friends cross the border and catch up with the COUNT. At first, he wants nothing to do with them, but he finally agrees to talk with the “FIFTH MUSKEHOUND”. The KING reveals the secret of his double, which the COUNT swards he will not disclose to anyone. Once the misunderstanding is cleared up, the COUNT, to the surprise of his retinue, gives orders to turn back and return to France.
