Unsound Sound's video: The Cure A Forest guitar cover

My cover of The Cure, "A Forest," which is a song that (to me) is about a person who seeks a girl -- maybe someone known or some imaginary perfect girl -- but never finds her and just gets lost. It is a song of loneliness that seems to be a mix of sadness, frustration and maybe some anger (at the self or the world, or both). That emotion is what guides me in the sounds I try to make. I played it on a Fender Jaguar (Lacquer '60s Fiesta Red) through a Roland Cube amp (Robert Smith played through solid state amps, and I could not get it to sound right on a tube amp). I used the plate reverb on the amp, plus an MXR Custom Comp and ModTone Aqua Chorus (always on). I turn an MXR Flanger on just after the drums come in and leave it on until the solo. I have to make some switches early because for the solo I have to turn on a TC Electronic Flashback delay, turn off the flanger, and turn on an Ibanez Tube Screamer with the drive turned all the way down. I close-miked the amp with a Shure SM57 and used an AKG Perception 420 condenser mike to pick up the computer speakers for the background. They ran into a PreSonus Audioboc and into a Mac, filmed on PhotoBooth.
