Backpacking With Woodglue's video: Hiking Yosemite s Half Dome Bonus: Rancheria Falls

Bigfoot and Woodglue team up with good friends to climb the Half Dome Cables in Yosemite National Park in July 2019. Starting at Happy Isles Trail Head (elevation 4,000 ft) Half Dome Hike is an extremely strenuous & breathtaking 20 mile round trip hike via the John Muir Trail in one direction and Mist Trail in the other direction, with a staggering 5,560ft of ascent! We passed 2 beautiful waterfalls on the way to the top; the Vernal Fall (318ft) and Nevada Fall (594 ft). 2019 is a high snow year, and this brings extra water into the Merced River. As seen in the video, we get extremely soaked from the mist trail near the Vernal Fall. It took us just under 13 hours to complete the hike which included a 30 minute break on top of Half Dome (8,835 ft). We started the hike at 5:00am and got back to the car before 6pm. A Park Ranger checked for our Cable Permit at the base of Sub Dome. This is required when the cables are up between May and October.
