Today, there is a general recognition of the need to improve environmental performance in agriculture, through enhancing the beneficial – and reducing the harmful – environmental effects such as the overuse of chemical products or water resources in order to ensure the sustainability of resource use. Agriculture generates waste and pollution yet it also conserves and recycles natural resources, and changes landscapes and habitats for wildlife.
