Try this trick 2-3 times a week, wiggling the plant gently from side to side for a while. 2. Bigger Hosta With Epsom Salt Apply Epsom salt in hostas for treating stunted growth, making leaves greener and thicker as it encourages chlorophyll levels. It also improves the immunity of the plant against pests and diseases. 3. Milk & Water Leaf Shiner For Rubber Plant Milk has lactic acid, it can be used for cleaning the foliage. Mix 30 percent skimmed milk and 70 percent water in a spray bottle or a bowl. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and wipe the glossy rubber plant leaves. Ensure to wipe beneath the foliage where mildew hides. 4. Fish Head in the Potting Hole Before planting any houseplant, put a fish head in the potting hole containing phosphorus, calcium, manganese, and magnesium. Fill one-third of the pot with potting mix, put fish head, cover with soil and place your houseplant. 5. Mayonnaise for Houseplants Accumulated dust on the leaf restricts the plant from absorbing sunlight and CO2, impacting photosynthesis. The mild vinegar content in mayonnaise makes it a fantastic cleaning agent, and the vegetable oil traces and egg yolks bring luster to the leaf surface that is cleaned. 6. Caffeine for Pothos Do you know houseplants also crave coffee as it helps in the biological process and speeds up photosynthesis? For fast growth of pothos, you can dress the soil with used coffee grounds or spent tea leaves sporadically. 7. Onion Skin Fertilizer Instead of throwing onion skin in the trash bin, make smart use of it by preparing organic potassium-rich fertilizer for indoor plants. Feed your plants with this onion tea 3-4 times a month. 8. Let Plants Enjoy Music Though plants can’t hear according to this research, they feel vibrations. Avoid placing the ice cubes directly touching the plant root or stem. 10. Baking Soda as Fungus Killer To promote photosynthesis, the leaves must remain clean and dust-free.
