Balleka's video: Pic de Bure - Welcome to your uncomfort zone

My first encounter with Pic de Bure on a wave day was pretty nerve racking. We had climbed up to the base of the airway near Serre and then set off north east for PdB burning up almost 4500' in the process. We passed through some seriously rough rotor and some evil sink before connecting again on the south east side of the mountain. I was the lowest of the group and could see Phil and JB in lift above me and I had a tense few minutes hunting around and eventually making a narrow band work me up into the wave proper. The rewards though were awesome, the height gain allowed Phil and I to continue on north east almost to Barre des Ecrins before turning for home and some playing in the clouds on the way. Epic day out. I might have been a bit lost in the view when I made the claim that it beat Portmoak wave :-) in the calm of my hotel room I'm reserving judgement and deciding it is a bit like comparing oranges and apples!
