Paharpur Buddha Bihar Naogaon is an old Buddhist monastery in Bangladesh. also known as Somapura Mahavihara or Shompur Môhabihar in Paharpur, Badalgachhi Upazila, Naogaon District, Bangladesh is among the best known Buddhist viharas in the Indian Subcontinent and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the country. Ruins of the Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. It dates from a similar time period to the nearby Halud Vihara and to the Sitakot Vihara in Nawabganj Upazila of Dinajpur District. Paharpur Bihar was built in between 779-823 AD during the regime of Pal dynasty. Dharmapal, 2nd king of Pal dynasty built this university in Bangladesh. Chinese, Burmese, Thai, Tibetan, Malaysian and Indonesian students were used to come here to learn.
