Like so many sports in 2020, the Olympia has undergone a couple of major changes. First, it was announced that the event would be moved from September to December. Then, with 30 days to get it done, the Olympia team moved the event from Las Vegas to Orlando, FL. Despite the uncertainty and change in locations, the biggest event in bodybuilding took place on Dec. 17-20, 2020. The first night of the Olympia Weekend is one of the most exciting evenings of the year in the sport of bodybuilding. Aside from the pre-judging of the Mr. Olympia contest, the finals of several divisions are held. The best athletes in each division step onstage against each other for the first time in a year to determine who will leave the stage as the world champion of their sport. This year’s Olympia has been met with several forms of adversity but prejudging went smoothly on the morning of Dec. 18, 2020. Aside from the Men’s Open prejudging, the Finals of the 212, Fitness, Figure, Women’s Physique, and the return of Ms. Olympia were the featured attractions of the evening. 2020 Olympia Friday Night Finals Report Figure Fitness Women’s Physique Ms. Olympia Men’s 212 Saturday night at the Olympia on a normal year is exciting and symbolic. Fans are always excited to see the best bodies in fitness competing. For the athletes, it’s symbolic because it’s the culmination of weeks’ worth of training and dieting so they can present the most muscle and the best conditioning on bodybuilding’s largest stage. 2020’s edition of the Olympia serves as so much more than that. After cancellations, rescheduling the event, and then moving it cross-country with only a few weeks to do so, Saturday night serves as a celebration of overcoming numerous forms of adversity to reach this point. The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida was the host building for this celebration as well as the crowning of multiple world champions in bodybuilding and fitness. Among those in the crowd was Honorary Olympia ambassador Shaquille O’Neal, who called the competitors at the Olympia “the greatest athletes in the world” when he was on commentary.
