The only true thing we can beg for is the connection with The Giver of all gifts. ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ Sorat'h, First Mehla: ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਨਿ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਥਾਰੇ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ You, God, are the Giver of gifts, the Lord of perfect understanding; I am a mere beggar at Your Door. ਮੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ What should I beg for?
