Baba Ji were one of the greatest Sikhs of the Guru to have ever lived. They were blessed to serve the Guru from their younger years with Guru Nanak Dev Ji (first Sikh Guru) through to their senior years with Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji (sixth Sikh Guru). During their life, they were bestowed great responsibilities including being the first Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple, Amritsar) to performing ceremonial rites for when the Guruship was passed on for 5 Guru Sahibaans. Their life exemplifies the way a Sikh should aspire to live, imbued with love and humility whilst remaining committed to selfless service for Guru Sahib.
