Join me today as I make this amazing Pumpkin Cheesecake. This recipe is 453 years old dating back to the classic Italian Renaissance in 1570. This recipe has stood the test of time and I am delighted to share this with you. The recipe comes from Bartolomeo Scappi's ( 1500-1577) cook book called the Opera di Bartolomeo Scappi and he was arguably the most famous chef of the Italian Renaissance. He oversaw the preparation of meals for several Cardinals and was such a master of his profession that he became the personal cook for two Popes. During his career, he cooked for six popes, and in fact was cooking at the Vatican at the same time as Michelangelo was working on the Sistine Chapel.
