In Australia and New Zealand we seem to get some bonus parts on our front bumpers compared Subaru WRX's in the USA. We have day time running lames (DRLs) in the foglight assembly, as well as headlight washers (best to remove these while the bumper is still attached, unlike what I did here in this video). How do Hella Style Supertone Horns Sound Compared to Stock? HI all, thanks for viewing the video. So I scored these horns for Christmas, and yep! They're the replica copies of the Hella Supertone Horns, so not ideal! But, you know what? As someone who has owned genuine Hella Supertone horns before, these look and SOUND almost exactly the same. So you could save yourself some coin. I mean, if there was just one part to not go genuine on... It's probably horns right? What these replica horns are missing is the fuse for the bonus power, but I know lots of WRX drivers who never bothered with the fuse on their Hella supertone horns because they were loud enough already. These horns are a huge improvement in volume compared to the stock subaru wrx horns. In my comparison between stock and these electric supertone horns, I compared them from the interior and multiple distances from the car (iphone app decibel reader). Where it reveals the real value for these horns is the volume stays loud a lot further away from the car. I've tracked down the supplier of these parts. This was a whole Kit from a business called Pro Speed Racing in Australia. They supplied the Horns, Perrin Bracket and Wiring harness great idea. Its unfortunate they're wiring harness didn't fit easily as they claimed it would. The good thing is you can order the horns in a bunch of different colours, saving you from the hassle of repainting. For me, I've been through the phases of horn colour changes in the past including the common "are they twin turbos?" question when they were painted silver. This time, I am happy to keep them stealth and just enjoy them for their loud noise. Overall, they seem good so far. How long will the last is the unanswered question. Stay tuned because i'll track down a friend of mine who has the genuine Hella horns and we'll do a quick comparison between them soon! This is simply a video documenting my process, there may be better ways of doing things than what you see here, but I hope this educates you in forming a strategy to tackle a similar project yourself!
