“Brainstorming. I've been using this technique since I've been doing advertising for many years. I used to do it for all my clients. We would actually come back from meeting the client saying, 'You know what? We need to strategize.' So I would put all my employees in one room and do brainstorming sessions to actually build brands and recognition for top of mind branding. Which is really cool but then I started using it on my personal life. I created a group of people—actually I didn't create them—but I surrounded myself with a group of positive people that actually give me good ideas. So whenever I have a great idea and I bring it to the table they actually give me more ideas that feed off my idea and actually come out with new products and services that I wouldn't have thought about if I didn't do a brainstorming session. When you're doing these brainstorming sessions make sure you create an agenda and an outline so that way you're a little more organized. And be extremely careful in not creating what's called a blamestorming session. The difference is that usually if something negative pops up we start blaming other people; that it’s their fault because of that, or why we're not succeeding. So instead of doing that, focus on the positive side and create the brainstorming session to really come up with new ideas and see what else you can do to better whatever it is that you're doing or take your business or life to the next level.” –Bert Oliva.
