Best Sydney Parks's video: The Strand Arcade - Sydney CBD- Definitely worth checking out when you re in the area

The Strand Arcade is the last remaining Victorian shopping Arcade in Sydney. Opened in 1892 it was restored to the original Victorian look after a devastating fire destroyed a large section in 1976. Fond memories when growing up and parents taking me to a Tin Soldier shop, I think it was called Rorke's Drift, back then the arcade didn't look this nice, now over 70 stores over 4 shopping floors. The top two floors are occupied by fashion stores with mostly Australian designers. The ground floor runs between George and Pitt streets and has entrances on either end this floor is busiest and most interesting of all as it has a wide range of food shops confectionary and cafes. The basement floor has a large JB hifi. If not for its shopping its a great place just to admire the fine detail in its restoration work on the shop fronts, check out the cedar stair case and stain glass windows on either end, ride the old Otis lift to the top floor and check out the decorative glass lantern roof, tiny shops line either side of the arcade with their brand signage hanging out the front really gives you the feeling of 19th century shopping.
