LUBAINA HIMID (Zanzibar / Tanzania, 1954) -BREVE HISTORIA- Plastic artist whose work alludes in many of his engravings, oil paintings and colorful montages in different formats, to the industry of slavery and his legacy or to the institutional invisibility of the black community, and his despised contributions. The Tanzanian artist also received the prestigious Turner prize for contemporary art, declaring when she found out: 'I have always been ignored by critics, exhibition curators and institutions, but never by artists'. In the 80s of the last century she became one of the first artists involved in the Black Art movement. She is currently a professor of contemporary art at the University of Central Lancashire, northwest England. 32. WINNIE MANDELA-MADIKIZELA (South Africa, 1936-2018) -BREVE HISTORY- South African activist and social worker, wife of President Nelson Mandela, with whom she married in 1958 (being united to him, still in prison from 1962 to 1990). He supported the armed resistance against the white regime and took part in innumerable strikes of the black workers. He spent 17 months in jail in 1969-70 and 6 months in 1974-75. She was exiled to the village of Brandfort from 1977 to 1985. After the expulsion order was issued, she settled in Soweto and, although she was not allowed to take part in public events, she ignored such order, participating in rallies that gathered crowds of more than 40 people. 000 people In 1988 he received the Bremen Solidarity Prize. He had problems in 1989, when his bodyguards were accused of kidnapping four black youths, one of whom died. She returned to politics in 1993 when she was elected to the presidency of the ANC Women's League.
