Chef Ruth Cohen was surrounded with love as friends turned out in force to 'Rally for Ruth' at Cru Restaurant in The Bell Tower Shops on Tuesday April 17, 2012. The benefit was attended by dozens of Southwest Florida area Restaurant Professionals, members of the press, as well as many of the guests that Chef Ruth has delighted with creations from her kitchens. Ruth has undergone treatment for over six months and friends Florida Weekly Columnists Karen Feldman, and her husband Jim McCracken, along with Mitch and Joanne Haley organized the event to help Ruth Cohen absorb some of the mounting medical bills. Chef Harold Balink of Cru offered wine and delicious appetizers while donations were collected and guests bid on a collection of silent auction items that raised dollars throughout the evening. The event was an uplifting party celebrating the opportunity for many friends to reunite. Among the guests were representatives of all local media outlets including WINK-FM radio personality Gina Birch, News-Press 'Downtown Diva' Stephanie Davis, as well as world renown Confectionary Chef and Chocolatier Norman Love and his wife Mary, Chef Shannon Yates, Wine & Spirits Consultants Steve Hyde of Yabo Restaurant and Julie Glenn of Transatlantic Wines, were just of the few that attended the 'Rally for Ruth'.
