Recorded live, with painted canvas sets as backdrops, and shot in sequence, this 1949 episode of Suspense looks more like a Broadway Play than a TV show. A husband is detained by police at the side of a quiet country road, where his wife is lying dead. The tale unfolds in flashbacks featuring the husband, the wife, and an attractive blonde neighbor. The only name (and face) I recognized in this tale, was that of Eileen Heckart, who had a 40-year career in Hollywood films. She was nominated for best supporting actress for “The Bad Seed” in 1956 and for “Butterflies are Free” in 1972. She was awarded ‘Best Cast’ in 1996 by the National Board of Review for her role in “The Best Wives Club.” She plays Mollie, the dead wife who was killed by………. Ah! You’ll have to watch to learn the answer! Suspense TV was the little brother to the Suspense Radio Program that ran from 1942 to 1962. Suspense TV produced 250 episodes in its span of five season from 1949 to 1954.
