Bina Bantawa's video: Beautiful Kuri Kalinchowk -Nepal

This video shows the current way of transportation up to Kuri, and beautiful scenes around it and Kalinchowk. Nepalese tourists were (are still) quite unable to travel the region that receives snowfall in winter. Many people dwelling in the Kathmandu Valley, for instance, rush to Chandragiri (16 km from central Kathmandu) or Daman (around 80 km southwest of Kathmandu) when these region unexpectedly receives snowfall. However, having the region made quite accessible with the road construction, there is a huge flow of domestic tourists in Kuri and Kalinchowk (3,842m) during winter largely to enjoy the snowfall. Apart from beauty, this region is significant also in the history of state formation of Nepal. Gabriele Tautscher's book Himalayan Mountain Cults: Territorial rituals and Tamang Histories is one of the good resources to understand this territory including Sailung and Gosainkund. Beyond Kalinchowk, there is a village called Tārebhir where Tamang people reside, and apart from a few hotels run by Sherpas, other hotels are run by the Tamangs in Kuri. Hence, for those who are interested in the territory and its history, this region can also be a suitable area to study for which anthropologist Gabriele's book can be a reference. Thank you.
