Black Public Media's video: Pitch Black 2023 Awards Ceremony

PitchBLACK is Black Public Media's dynamic pitch forum and awards program during which 360 Incubator+ fellows and creative technologists pitch their projects to an in-person audience and panel of seasoned makers, funders, distributors and industry executives. Winning projects can be awarded up to $150K in production funding. PitchBLACK is the catalyst for several funded projects. To date, it has: *Awarded $1.1M in production funding to forum winners *Led to two network broadcasts and two webcast series *Generated content attracting more than 200K web views and millions of TV viewers. During even-numbered years, the high-stakes funding competition includes former BPM fellows and grantees. During odd-numbered years, the Film Forum culminates BPM’s 360 Incubator+ program — an intensive three-month fellowship offering participants an opportunity to develop a film, web series, or engagement project. The winning pitch teams are announced at the PitchBLACK Awards program , where we also present our Trailblazer and Nonso Christian Ugbode Emerging Media Award. The Trailblazer Award is given to makers who have produced a high-quality body of work over time, while also distinguishing themselves as outstanding teachers/mentors to others. This year's trailblazer is award-winning documentary filmmaker and educator, Yoruba Richen. Past Trailblazers include Marco Williams and Orlando Bagwell
