Jerone Thomas's video: How Warren Buffett Researches Stocks Berkshire Hathaway Meeting 2013

@How Warren Buffett Researches Stocks | Berkshire Hathaway Meeting 2013
People from time to time point out that I am a pauper who talks about money on youtube, which seems like a contradiction to logic, so who best to learn from than a billion investor who is arguably the best investor in modern history or perhaps ever. (below are my random thoughts) I have watch almost all of the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting that I can find online with the exception of maybe 2014 through 2018 and I am working on that as we speak. I have an intense passion for investing, not just stock investing, but investing, so listening to him speak about investing is how I image normal American male 20 somethings feel when watching the super bowl or watching their favorite sports time. (I don't watch much sports if we are being honest, unless it is a combat sport e.g MMA etc) Many people make the argument that the market is impossible to beat and consequently no one on the planet should ever try ever unless your warren Buffett, so why not learn from warren Buffett. I honestly think the concept of every human should buy index funds and the equivalent ETFs is bull sh!t but here is not the spot to discuss this, I will make a video and probably a "community post" about my thoughts on the matter and why I have come to the current beliefs I have. Obviously all my beliefs are subject to change over time, in fact it could change in the next hour, but I digress. I spend most of my time learning about what I call "moneyology". Moneyology is a term that I started to use privately to describe my autodidactic area of study and practice. I define moneyology as the interdisciplinary study & practice of economics, finance, & accounting. The overlap between these subjects are evident, & one thing I learn from training Mix Martial Arts back in the day is that mixing different disciplines together is a great way to get an upper hand & also be overall better at achieving. especially if these disciplines are related. This concept isn't new e.g: bio-chemistry, bio-physics, bio-engineering, (for some reason I can only think of bio examples but you get the point) This is not a new concept, but I looked and did not find any name for such a subject that attempts to combine accounting, finance & economics. Maybe there is something out there for which already bears a name, but I like moneyology better. As a little kid I was quite interested in money just like Buffett, I know if I was introduced to investing at the same age he was I would have feel in love very quickly, as I have now. but not just investing, but rather all of the interesting aspects of "moneyology". I think one of the reasons i enjoy watching these annual meetings so much is that I see a lot of the personal characteristics buffett has in myself, and I am talking about the subtle things that only a student of body language & reading people can really get, of which I have been a conscious student of just that since middle school where i'd watch videos on youtube about body language and nonverbal cues. Warren Buffett is often quoted as saying people should just use index funds and they use that to say in effect no one should ever try to invest in individual stocks, I can almost guarantee you these people spend significantly less time watching and listening to warren Buffett than I do, this is an extreme over simplification of what Warren Buffett states on the matter. I have watched and read well over 100 hours of Buffett, most have not, so it easy to see when someone has not. I've loved science in some way or another just as long and just as much as I've been interested in money & business related matters. However I found trying to learn the Nature sciences, 4 foreign languages, and "moneyology" to be an unproductive way of achieving my life goals the sad truth is had to narrow my focus, and so I did, I chose moneyology and I still practice some languages, mostly Spanish. Now I treat moneyology as my "science" and people Say well what can you learn from a poor person like myself? Well in college as an undergraduate we had to learn from people getting their masters degree, one could argue theyre too inexperience to be "teaching" the subjects that they're teaching but no one does. Well I have spent just as many hours studying and/or practicing "moneyology" as one who have gotten in undergraduates degree in some subject matter. so I am metaphorically getting my masters in moneyology at the moment. and if you consider I have be thinking about money and ways to save money and make money since I was in elementary I probably have more knowledge and experience than an equivalent recently graduated undergraduate in their respective fields on average. I put teaching in quotes because I don't look at myself as teaching anyone anything, I look at myself as simply talking, if you learn something from my words great, but I just enjoy to talk about money always have and probably always will.
