Reshma Pasupuleti was born into a Telugu-speaking family to Prasad Pasupuleti, a Telugu film producer. She has a sister Deepti, who is a software engineer in the USA, while her cousin is Tamil actor Bobby Simha. Reshma pursued her education abroad, first in Arkansas, and then completed her engineering degree in the computer science department from the Texas A&M University. In the year 2004, she joined Amitysoft Software Institution for a course on software testing and later also briefly worked as an air hostess with Delta Airlines. Her father's ailing health meant that she returned to India in the mid-2000s. She subsequently began working as a news anchor covering English news for TV5, and her work on the channel garnered her more anchoring role as well as acting opportunities in television series. The Tamil series Vamsam, where she appeared along with Ramya Krishnan, became popular and as a result, Reshma was keen to act in films.
