Gwen had to let go of the old Arthur and see the King he could be. They both had to let go of how Uther felt about their relationship. And the list can go on and on. Every time they let go of the past, they grew in their relationship. And when Gwen was caught with Lancelot on the eve of Arthur and Gwen's wedding - it was the same.
