@[Outdated] Eternal Ring any% Speedrun - 1:19:49
Game info - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Ring My Twitch - http://www.twitch.tv/bladechild Other runners - http://www.twitch.tv/inamurei/ Speeddemosarchive thread / strategies - https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/eternal_ring_ps2.html Run info - This is the first run I managed to complete of Eternal Ring, and the time, though improvable, seems pretty solid to me, and would only be drastically improved (5 minutes+) with better routing/strats. Fighting some normal monsters throughout the run is required to obtain gems to create magic rings used to attack. Though it is theoretically possible to skip ring creation, you will reach the stage quite quickly where Fireball isn't good enough, making ring creation faster in the long run. Going out of your way for Item pickups is generally limited to Mana recovery items, though this run includes some unnecessary pickups, and a few errors like getting lost and general movement/menu sluggishness. Assumed FAQs Is this game worth playing? It's not a great game, but it's part of a bunch of games made by FROM in the early days (the guys behind Demons/Dark souls) so in that aspect, it's interesting. The game does have a certain atmosphere about it, though I personally would recommend Shadow Tower instead. Is this game worth running? Hell yeah, this needs to be the next best thing. But seriously, it's pretty short and simple and very easy to pickup. I've only really been running it a week. You changed your controller setup and wasted time. About 2 seconds loss. While a speed purest will hate that, that's less time I'd lose trying to use the default controls, which tie back and forward movement to the D-Pad and camera turning to the left and right. Which is why you will see me struggle to aim spells at mobs, there is no analog use. Movement, strafing and looking up/down are all awkwardly placed. What happened in the beginning? The Hauppage PVR2 is a piece of junk when it comes to component streaming. It cuts out a lot when entering the first cutscene, and unfortunately is known to do the same thing when meeting the werewolf in the snow map, thought hat didn't happen this time round. Why run an unknown game. What do you normally run? I'm pretty new to the speedrunning game. I run MH3U, though it's too long and RNG related to be taken too seriously. I plan to run Dark Souls II and will most likely run the original. Other than that I'm quite interested in picking up something like Wind Waker. I chose to run this because It's little known and enjoy the routing process.
