Blast Theory's video: Blast Theory Residency: Aleea Monsour

Aleea Monsour is an independent artist and community theatre practitioner. She graduated from Queensland University of Technology Fine Arts Drama with distinction and has since completed Creative Industries Honours. In 2015 Aleea was engaged in writing, directing and producing Remembering Palestine, a verbatim theatre piece. As a collaborating artist on the sight specific installation piece: A Library for the End of the World, Aleea toured though regional north Australian communities. She was stage manager for Hot Brown Honey Burlesque’s Brisbane performances. Collaborated on the interactive installation: The Whispering Woods at the Woodford Planting Festival, and undertook the role of puppeteer and collaborator for the Giant Monster Project at the Woodford Folk Festival. Over the last two years she has assisted in organising Roving Conspiracy a grass-roots pop-up community musical, visual and performing arts event. Aleea has previously completed an internship on The Boomtown Project with the Queensland Music Festival and facilitated and taught school-aged students through a number of afterschool theatre programs. Her work and the projects she is involved in reflect her personal inspiration, to engage with the voices and stories of communities in theatre and art.
