@How to Get Started in Don't Starve Together pt 2 : Beginner Game tips! | DST tutorial guide
This guide will cover from day 8 to day 16. If you haven't watched the first video detailing day 1 to day 8 please click the link below! This time I’m going to discuss some different options for survival in case you don't feel comfortable following a single method or it just isn't your play style. Also, for those who watched the first video of my old world, I recreated everything with the same results because the video got deleted. In the first 8 days video some people mentioned it took them longer to explore the outline of the map. This is completely ok and to be expected based on the randomness of the map and circumstances. If you haven't finished exploring the whole outline yet, focus on finding a good spot to setup your base. I always try to make it central, close to unmovable resources or like people commented near a good wormhole is also a great option. You can use this time to work on your base, but first i recommend making a spear and some wood armor. If you haven't got a hound attack yet, you are overdue! Once you’re done dealing with that or ready to deal with it you can continue to work on your base. Make sure to get the birdcage (Craft a bird trap and catch a bird to put in the bird cage. You can put a seed on the trap if you’re in a hurry to catch one, but the birds are pretty dumb so it’s not needed. If you place the trap a nearby bird will land on it at some point. Once done with the trap, just leave it set to catch birds every once in a while. (Also just a side note, when you catch extra birds with the trap you can either choose to get a morsel 100% of the time by cooking it alive over the fire (Totally not animal cruelty) or if you want the feather just murder it for a 50% chance to get meat/feather). Ice box – I always see people saying they can't find gears for the ice box. This can be difficult if you didn’t do a ruin rush yet, but you can normally find Clockwork Knights, Bishops and Rooks on the surface or just search some tumbleweeds. It’s only a 1% drop but remember you get 3 items out of the tumbleweed! Make some chests (You don't really need chests right now, but it doesn't hurt). Most items can be left on the ground, except items that can be eaten or stolen such as gold, rocks, and pig skin. I'm sure you get the idea! Really depends on where you setup. Once you make your first crock pot I would make some meatballs. You can make drying racks. You don't REALLY need them right now if you have the bird cage and don’t forget ae!! (This is stuff you can work on until it's close to the full moon) It's going to be a full moon. This guide is for DST so on day 11. Depending on how far the Glommer statue is make sure you give yourself enough time to make it to the statue before the full moon is over. If you haven't found it yet go to the Deciduous Forest and look for the Pig King, because the Glommer statue is always close by! Be careful because any Pigmen nearby will be turning into Werepigs once the full moon is happening. You can kill the pigs beforehand so they are not a problem if they are too close to the Statue (Just kill them normally or use monster meat to turn them into Werepigs before the full moon to get the most out of them. A side note is to use the last Werepig to turn anything else you don't want aka Petals and Bulbs on the ground to get manure. Now that you know where the Glommer statue is you also know where the Pig King is because he's always close to the Glommer statue! So once you got Glommer out of the way leave him at base for when you might need some sanity. You will also find Glommer goop every few days where you left him. His goop is good for fuel for a fire or providing 40 HP when eaten, but at the cost of 50 sanity. This can be good if you want to farm some Nightmare fuel. NF is your friend, so don't be afraid to go insane. I wouldn't recommend it when you’re trying to focus on setting up your base though....can get annoying real fast! Now with a lot of your base building done you can use some time doing more exploring! Key things to do while exploring? Follow roads. When you come across them, Chester is normally around the cobble roads. Keep an eye out for more Walrus camps! Hopefully your world has more than one! Destroy any tier 3 Spider Den's you find. This way you can place them closer to your base. Make sure to craft a razor and head to the savanna and look for the Beefalo's. Try and find one alone or somewhat further from the pack. You can even feed one grass to get it to follow you. Once alone in a dark alley someplace, KILL IT and repeat until you get a Beefalo Horn so you can make a Beefalo Hat. This will help to keep you warm in the winter until you get a Tamo. You will need a Thermal Stone but you don't need that until later! Once you have the horn you can gather nearby grass until night time and then go around with your razor and shave the Beefalo's for their wool. This wool is needed for the Beefalo hat.
