BlueDeanCarcione's video: Poor Wayfaring Stranger - cover by Blue Dean Carcione

@Poor Wayfaring Stranger - cover by Blue Dean Carcione
There are so many awesome versions of this song, I felt compelled to make a fairly mediocre one to balance out the awesomeness. Poor Wayfaring Stranger aka The Wayfaring Stranger probably hails back from 19th century England, but has since become a standard in the American country & western songbook. It spread out during the American Civil War, and no matter the artist or the rendition, you can always discern that mild Appalachian tinge to it. That delightful sense of imminent apocalypse. Even though there are hundreds of excellent adaptations, my favorite - and the one I owe the most to - is probably 16 Horsepower's version, from their album Secret South. Good stuff there, and a lot of biblical anxiety too. I'm playing my sweet Deering Goodtime Banjolele, my usual Suitcase Drum Machine™ and a VERY VERY LOUD foot tambourine. Also I've lit the fireplace for scenographic effect, despite it being like 30°C outside. Strange fall we're having.
