I had been hoping to do a proper cold winter camp as I didn’t manage to get one done last winter, so I headed for the safe option of the Bewcastle Fells. It might only be up around the 1500ft mark but it was still bitterly cold and it was difficult to do the ordinary things. But it was a good test of my cold weather gear which didn’t let me down, and another chance to test the Helm Compact 1. I think I prefer the milder camps as I ain’t cut out for this cold stuff !!
