Hi everyone! Okay so let's take a fun journey back in time through the Sound and Vision Media Television commercial archives. Today’s video production story is about a very successful television commercial campaign, with a Halloween theme. This Boston based television video production was written by Mark Helms and Erik Rodenheiser. Erik also stars as the mad scientist. The commercial was directed and produced by Mark Helms and Sound and Vision Media. The client was iParty, who at the time was operating 43 stores in the northeast and along the eastern seaboard. For nearly a decade, Boston video production company, Sound and Vision Media, produced several television commercials and radio commercials for all of the iParty stores. To get the mood just write for a classic Halloween television commercial, Director Mark Helms decided to have the entire commercial shot on 35 mm film. Now here is the motivation behind these Halloween themed commercials: When Mark was young, he remembered watching so many terrible creature feature movies, and he also remembered as a child, that all of the actors were either terrible or that the scripts were pretty bad. Instead of being frightened by the movies, he laughed at most of them. This was the inspiration for the series of Halloween commercials created and written for iParty over several years. Mark wanted all of the actors, to act as badly as the actors that he had seen growing up in the horror movies he had seen as a youngster, growing up in Virginia. And the actors, Alana Leonard, Erik Rodenheiser, And Steve Demers all had specific instructions to act terribly! Helms, soon realized the problem. It is often hard for great actors to act really bad on purpose, none the less, the whole shoot was staged, shot and wrapped in one day. The director of Marketing and Advertising for iParty, Denell Nuese was there on the live set to make sure everything came out perfectly. The Boston television commercial and accompanying radio ads were a huge success!
