Brady Skye's video: The One Thing Every Pilot Should Know

If you want to go from being a GOOD pilot to a GREAT pilot, start thinking about your Angle of Attack while learning to fly. The Angle of Attack is the angle at which the wing meets the air, or relative wind. It is perhaps the most important thing you need to know to understand how an airplane flies during all maneuvers. This is the foundation of treating flying as an art instead of a technicality. Journey with me back to the origin of flight training with this very important knowledge dating back to the Golden Age of Aviation. This is why Sully Sullenberger was able to land US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River safely, and why Bob Hoover could do incredible, one-engine out twin-engine aerobatics. They always knew their Angle of Attack. If you're having trouble understanding this concept, just keep trying. Ask your instructor to explain it to you. If they can't, they don't know enough yet. As you start flying a real airplane, whether it's a Cessna 152, Cessna 172, or tailwheel, I think this concept will start to make more sense to you.
