On Sept. 28th we took a late-season stroll up the Athabasca Glacier to the Columbia Icefield. Our objective had been Mt. Snow Dome, but huge crevasses and thin snow bridges turned us around--the "tumble" referred to being the sort where one tumbles into a bottomless crevasse.
