Brian Webb's video: Flying the MAD DOG just one last time Delta MD-88 ATL-BHM 10 31 18

@Flying the 'MAD DOG' just one last time! Delta MD-88 ATL-BHM 10/31/18
* For the life of me, I could not get iMovie to export my footage in 4K60fps, despite multiple attempts, so I finally gave up, and settled for 1080p60 rather than 4K30fps. ** Dedicated to my friend Kelly G, whom I've turned into an avgeek, and now geeks out about planes as much as I do. I hope she'll get a flight soon on the dog too. *** Links to my videos from my flight on an AA 'Super 80' earlier this year - IAH-DFW: https://youtu.be/f3UtpKErcXw Push back, engine start, and taxi https://youtu.be/A6GCikvYhnk Take off, climb, and cabin view https://youtu.be/SQJyq4yOTjw Final approach into Dallas https://youtu.be/7l6yX75FEhg Landing into DFW **** My other flight videos currently uploaded to YouTube: https://youtu.be/PUszws6ZLaA SWA/WN 737-300 Push,Engine Start, and Taxi in SFO 1/2 https://youtu.be/cA3Nkvujcas SWA/WN 737-300 Takeoff in SFO 2/2 https://youtu.be/dwtrZZtRQtY SWA/WN 737-300 Push,Engine Start, Taxi, and Takeoff in OKC https://youtu.be/QENxYAc1dcs SWA/WN 737-300 Landing in PHX (great classic flap sounds!) https://youtu.be/uaYb4bTg8DU SWA/WN 737-700 Landing in PHX https://youtu.be/lLvmx9ipkr0 UA/Skywest E-175 Push, Engine Start, Taxi, and Takeoff in SFO https://youtu.be/c-HzyWLfm5U UA/Skywest E-175 Landing in OKC https://youtu.be/IBOefLUoBWE UA/Skywest E-175 Push, Engine Start, Taxi, and Takeoff in OKC https://youtu.be/EuB3zjD9rqA UA/Skywest E-175 Landing, Taxi, and eventual parking in 'time out' corner in SFO https://youtu.be/ilJwvB1CvRQ UA Airbus A-319 Takeoff in OKC https://youtu.be/t3MDNneMIzo DL/Skywest E-175 Landing in LAS https://youtu.be/jltsKV7WK7w DL Airbus A-321 Nighttime Takeoff in LAS w/Strip-Views https://youtu.be/UQhPaWpY9eM DL Airbus A-321 Nighttime Landing in a Cloudy SLC And this dog sure did get mad, skip straight to 14:00 for takeoff, and hear her bark! Full flight, from pushback and engine start to landing and taxi of Delta Airlines flight 2094 on Halloween from ATL-BHM, or rather probably my last flight ever on an MD-80. I am a former Continental Airlines employee, who's career was cut short thanks to the tragic events of 9/11. Our fleet then was wide and highly varied. My two personal favorites were the DC-10, and the MD-80, both of which CO ditched shortly after 9/11 in an effort to become 'All Boeing.' Since then the DC-10 (and all tri-jets for that matter) have disappeared from our skies, and there have been fewer and fewer MD's in the sky, leaving me on a trek to seek out some final flights on them before they're a thing of the past. I managed to get in two round trips on Allegiant's MD-83 last year from STS-LAS before the service was discontinued, as well as a leg on American's 'Super-80' from IAH-DFW this year (see those videos here on my channel), and that left me seeking Delta's MD out before they too, were gone, as American has planned to retire their last few out by year’s end, as has Allegiant, Delta remains the solo operator of this classic jetliner. Good news is, they plan to do so for at least one more year, however, bad news for most is unless you’re local to ATL or connecting through there, you won’t likely get a chance to fly on one anymore as DL has stationed the remaining MD’s in ATL. Delta continues to fly the MD-90, and the MD-95/Boeing-717, of which I've been on both air frames. Neither carry the same charm, same 'classic' feel such as this beast does. I'm just bummed that I never was afforded the opportunity to snag a flight on the oldest of all of these models' siblings - the DC-9. Or at least not that I can remember. One thing I noticed was that DL has actually upgraded their cabins, as this plane had a newer, modern look, unlike the Super-80 I flew to Dallas on with American Airlines earlier this year. Sadly, that plane simply felt in disrepair (interior-wise), and you could tell the writing was on the wall for their birds. Allegiant's MD-80's are kind of.... well, funky to say. If you've ever flown with them before, you probably know what I mean. You never know what to expect when you board an Allegiant flight. However, their planes were clean, and even if delayed, it was within an hour. One had fairly new interior which I later learned had been recently purchased from SAS. The rest - well, it was just very LCC, but in better shape than AA's to say the least. If you're a fan of the JT8D engine sounds, you'll like this video, and turn the volume up at takeoff. I apologize in advance for any shaky camera work - this is my first full flight video. I’m not a professional with mounts or anything - just a dude who loves to fly. I was seated at the exit row @ door L2. Flight time was something around 25 minutes & special thanks to the crew aboard this flight for allowing me to record everything and being so welcoming about it ❤️
