BrickishRail's video: GWR Castle s at 100 Best of the GWR Castle Class Centenary 2023 Compilation

2023 marked a special milestone in the GWR's history, with Charles Collett's 4073 'Castle' Class design celebrating it's centenary year. The Castle's 100th year was marked by a number of gatherings and main-line runs across the country, many of which we were fortunate to attend. This compilation includes visits to Didcot Railway Centre, the Severn Valley Railway, STEAM - Museum of the GWR and Tyseley Locomotive Works, as well as mainline runs on the Settle & Carlisle Railway and the Chiltern Mainline. This video also features seven of the eight Castle Class locomotives which survived into preservation. Only 5029 'Nunney Castle' is absent, with the locomotive currently undergoing overhaul in Crewe. This compilation also features nameplates from a number of long-lost Castle Class locomotives, displayed at the STEAM museum in Swindon.
