On the December 2, 2011 edition of SmackDown, Gabriel defeated Jinder Mahal following distraction from Ted DiBiase. He'd then go on a winning streak until Drew McIntyre defeated Gabriel on the December 15, 2011 edition of WWE Superstars. On the January 6th edition of SmackDown he saved Hornswoggle from his former tag team partner Heath Slater and hit his 450 splash on Slater. At the tapings for the January 13th 2012 edition of Friday Night Smackdown Gabriel defeated Slater in a singles match.
