Burnet Institute's video: HIV point-of-care tests for newborns

@HIV point-of-care tests for newborns
More than 1 million babies are born to HIV-infected mothers each year. It is important to know whether these babies have had HIV passed down from their mother. Low cost point-of-care tests can be used in the field for adults, however they do not work for babies born to HIV-infected mothers because they detect antibodies passed Burnet's Associate Professor David Anderson and his team have developed a new reagent which allows us to test for antibodies that are actually made by HIV-infected babies. If we can get this test to work it will save lives. Your donation to Burnet's Eliminate HIV Appeal will allow us to test this concept and get to the development phase. Burnet Institute is an Australian, unaligned, not-for-profit, independent organisation that links medical research with practical action to help solve devastating health problems. This sets us apart from other organisations. Find out more at https://burnet.edu.au/
