Burnet Institute's video: Supporting mothers and babies in Papua New Guinea

@Supporting mothers and babies in Papua New Guinea
Support vulnerable mothers and their babies in Papua New Guinea on Mother's Day. In Australia a mother has a 1 in 10,000 chance of dying during pregnancy or childbirth; in Papua New Guinea that number is 1 in 20. Sadly, 5000 babies each year in PNG die within the first year of their life, and half of those children who survive have stunted growth. Our research is addressing these key health issues. The Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (HMHB) collaborative research program is partnering with local representatives in East New Britain. The research aims to define the major causes of poor maternal, newborn, and child health, and to identify feasible, acceptable and effective interventions and strategies to rectify this. This Mother's Day, we hope you can support our research in PNG. This support will help improve the chance of mothers surviving pregnancy and childbirth, and improve their children's chance of survival. Burnet Institute is an Australian, unaligned, not-for-profit, independent organisation that links medical research with practical action to help solve devastating health problems. This sets us apart from other organisations. Find out more at https://burnet.edu.au/
