Betty Boop stars in Wiffle Piffle Whoops I'm a cowboy (Release date February 12, 1937) Wiffle Piffle, short, mild-mannered and big-dreaming clerk in the office where Betty Boop works, proposes marriage to Betty and she turns him down by saying/singing she's only interested in a "bronco-busting" he-man cowboy. Wiffle Piffle, catches a train for the Wild West and arrives at a cactus junction called Lily Ponds, primarily because Miss Ponds was working at Paramount at the time. He buys a dude-cowboy outfit and gets a guide book and how to become a real cowboy. The puns on the instruction pages are funnier than Piffle's misadventures. And the censors at the MPPDA office must have been dozing and didn't bother reading some of the instructions. After all the trouble Wiffle's been through he ends up quitting the cowboy business, hitchhikes with a Indian and his son, and the film ends without him trying to talk to Betty again. The first of only two appearances by Wiffle Piffle in the Betty Boop series. His second was in The Hot Air Salesman (1937). Otherwise, Wiffle Piffle appeared only in the Screen Songs series. Whoops!
