CBC's video: Getting Started: Setting up your business One Stop Business

@Getting Started: Setting up your business | One Stop Business
Here are some tips a film, TV or digital media producer or content creator should know when starting a production company. Marcia Douglas from the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) provides a high level overview on why producers should incorporate, who else to involve when deciding how to structure your business, and other things producers and content creators should consider when first starting out in the entertainment business, like branding, insurance, networking and how to identify opportunities. Presented by Marcia Douglas, Senior Director, Business Affairs, Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), and moderated by Lisa Clarkson, Executive Director, Business & Rights and Content Optimization, CBC. This session is part of the One Stop Business Workshop - Say Hello to series organized by CBC, CAVCO and CMPA - originally livestreamed between June 10 - July 3, 2020. The goal of the series was to introduce new and emerging independent producers and content creators from traditionally underrepresented groups in the industry (women, persons with a disability, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and LGBTQ2+) to topics related to the business and financing of TV, film and original digital content.
