Here is an introduction to the Viewtron IP camera API for application software development and integrations. Viewtron IP cameras support an HTTP Post API. Being that the API uses XML via an HTTP Post, all major programming languages can be used to develop apps. This includes Python, PHP, Java, C #, C, C++, Perl, Swift, JavaScript, etc. Viewtron AI camera support the following: human detection, car detection, face detection / facial recognition, line crossing detection, intrusion detection, license plate detection, and automated license plate recognition. When those events occur, the IP camera can send an HTTP Post with an XML document to an external server that you specify on the IP camera's configuration. The XML document contains all of the data that describes the alarm event that occurred. This includes the name of the IP camera, event timestamp, and JPEG images of the event. Mike from CCTV Camera Pros has developed a http server in Python that receives the HTTP post from the Viewtron IP camera API. The Python server saves the data from license plate recognition and face recognition events and logs those events to a CSV file. The server also decodes the JPEG images and saves them to the file system. Mike developed the Python server on a Raspberry Pi / Raspian operating system. The server should also run well on any other Linux or Unix operating system.
