After the first executive committee meeting here in Chennai on Sunday, actor Vishal told reporters that the Nadigar Sangam would not coerce its members to participate in any political protests. “We feel the elected government of Tamil Nadu is best placed to speak on behalf of Tamils on major political issues like Cauvery water crisis. Henceforth, Nadigar Sangam will remain neutral,” he said. Their main task would be to construct a state-of-the-art building for the association that would become a tourist attraction for Chennai. “Those who are visiting Chennai must make it a point to visit Nadigar Sangam. That is our goal.”
