CJ's video: CJs Multipurpose Baby Chick Brooder

@CJs Multipurpose Baby Chick Brooder
CJs Multipurpose Baby Chick Brooder I'm really proud of this design so thought I'd shoot a quick vid for anyone needing to build a multi-use chicken brooder! This baby chick brooder was the bantam chickens house for 2 years until I got the new coop built. While raising the banty's, this also doubled as a chick brooder using partitions that are easily installed and removed without the use of screws or clamps. When I designed it, I wanted a big brooder I can totally and easily disassemble the front side for easy cleaning, feeding and watering without having to use screws or clamps. I also designed it so I can add as many partitions as I need for separating older and younger chicks and or temporarily house sick or injured chickens. Measurements are 4ft Wide x 7ft Long with an inside height of 32 inches. Total height from to top to the bottom of legs is 4ft high which gives growing chicks plenty room to run, jump and practice flying. Because these chicks are so young and need to be warm, I'm using a sheet of plywood for the top to help keep in heat. I'll be replacing the plywood with a framed screen to prevent them from flying out once the chicks no longer need a heat lamp and begin flying and sitting on the roost Although this has screened sides, it could also make a nice small coop for about 5 to 10 hens. All you'd have to do is add nest box's and in the winter, screw on ½ inch plywood on the sides and also make a roof. If you would happen to use it as a small coop, I'd suggest applying plywood to both inside and outside walls then insulate to help protect the hens from the bitter winter cold Thanks for watching, Please Like and Share! :)
