CSIRO's video: The Darwin Living Lab Symposium 2019

The Darwin Living Lab is helping to make our tropical capital a more liveable, sustainable and resilient city. In 2019, we hosted the first Darwin Living Lab science symposium. We welcomed leading experts to share their insights into heat mitigation and climate-appropriate design for the dry tropics. Attendees included builders, architects, researchers, policy makers, developers, engineers, urban planners and other practitioners in related fields. The theme was ‘Urban Design and Heat Mitigation in the Tropics’. It’s a 10-year collaboration between CSIRO, the Australian and Territory Governments and City of Darwin. The lab will test and evaluate heat mitigation measures, and inform tropical urban design for Darwin by using real-world experiments.
