@Chasing CSX Q-410: Kicking-Off December with KCS SD70ACe's
In this video we will be chasing CSX train Q-410, documenting most of its run through Northern New Jersey on the Conrail Shared Assets Lehigh Line and CSX River Line. The original plan for this video was to simply stay put in Dumont, NJ and get one shot of the Q-410 as well as the other that trains came through. However when we were told that Q-410 was running later than expected we chose to head down to Shared Assets territory in Hillside, NJ and hopefully chase the train to Dumont, NJ. Upon arrival in Hillside a headlight could be seen in the distance of an approaching Eastbound, early on we figured it was an NJT train, but it wound up being the Q-410; our train of the day with Kansas City Southern power trailing! Fortunately for us the train had a stop signal just East of our location so we were able beat them to Newark where we filmed the train passing under the ex-PRR catenaries. The train was also due for a re-crew in South Kearny at 8:30 allowing us to beat them to Jersey City at CP Marion, where we opted to do a "flatter" shot to highlight the KCS paint scheme's. We then made our way North to Dumont, NJ for our final shot of the train at tack speed. Whether it was fate, or good decision making I'm glad my dad and I decided to chase this train as it certainly makes for a more interesting video.
